Round Robin Photo Challenge

The Round Robin Photo Challenges are hosted by Karen, Carly and Steven and every two weeks they suggest a new topic so we can post representative photos.

This topic was suggested by Vicki of the blog Maraca back in 2008. The topic for Saturday, February 27th is

Blinded By The Light

"Photograph anything brilliant and bright."

So here is my photo for this week's Round Robin Photo Challenge:

This is the little Red Lighthouse under the George Washington Bridge. It's real name is Jeffrey's Hook Light. It's a small lighthouse on the Hudson River in New York City.

My shot was taken during the day but I added a lighting flare for the meme.

It's a real steep walk down to the lighthouse. It's even steeper coming back up. :) It's now a New York City Landmark (New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission) and was relighted by the city in 2002.

"Darkness reigns at the foot of the lighthouse." ~Japanese proverb.

Only glimmering, but the candles were bright en masse.

How glimmering in the brightest of ways! You did a great job of capturing the lighthouse light. That would be fun to see in person!

Wonderful shot, and I especially love the lighting flares. You added those? I wouldn't know how to do that!

I forgot this lighthouse existed, but I'm sure I must have seen it many times as a child. My dad's parents and one of this sisters lived in Little Ferry NJ, and I lived with them part of one summer when my mom was in the hospital with encephalitis.
