SOOC Sunday

Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, N.Y.

What are the rules for this meme? On any Sunday you can post any photo you like (it must be one of your own) that hasn’t been tweaked or altered in any way (cropping is OK). In other words Straight Out Of the Camera.

Also, please link back to Murrieta365. Jan will really appreciate it!

She really enjoys hosting this meme, and appreciates those who join in and visits others.

Postcard Friendship Friday

These are vintage Halloween postcards I found on Flickr. They were uploaded by riptheskull.

He/she has many Halloween cards and photos that you might enjoy looking at. Here are a few I liked:

Thanks Marie of The French Factrice for hosting such a wonderful meme!

This Way Thursday - WAY

I'm sorry Tink that I didn't get my photo up early for your meme. But it's up now and here it is:

It's not very clear but I took it so quickly I didn't have a chance to make sure the camera was steady. Kinda clever, right?

My World Tuesday

Well, the Halloween decorations are all over the place and the trees are near peak in Queens, N.Y.

You're looking at the playground in Forest Park on Myrtle Ave. (Photo 1) and a beautifully decorated front entrance in Glendale, N.Y.

Philipsburg Manor in Sleepy Hollow, NY (Weekend Reflections #5)

Philipsburg Manor

It's 1750, and Philipsburg Manor is a farming, milling, and trading center owned by the Philipses, a family of Anglo-Dutch merchants. They rent land to tenant farmers of diverse European backgrounds and rely on a community of 23 enslaved Africans to operate the complex.

Enjoy the reflections here in this post and then go over to James at Newtown Daily Photo for other participants.

Postcard Friendship Friday

I thought I would post this postcard which depicts the ride of Ichabod Crane escaping the Headless Horseman in Washington Irving's short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."

I bought it on Wednesday in Sleepy Hollow where we visited The Irving family plot in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Visiting Sleepy Hollow is appropriate at this time of year. The leaves are at their Autumn prettiest and, of course, the Headless Horseman is out and about across the land. Sleepy Hollow decorates its main street called North Broadway with Halloween decorations every year.

This Way Thursday - WAY

Tink hosts this fun meme!

My sign for this week is a sign in the Waldbaum's parking lot. No racing around the parking lot now that this sign is up and Securewatch24 is watching you!

Weekend Reflections

The shot at the top is of the fireplace at Boulder Creek restaurant (like the Outback). They just turned on the fireplace which I love staring into...

The fire reflects in the glass that surrounds the fireplace and also (bottom photo) reflects in the window with venetian blinds.

Go visit James at Newtown Daily Photo for his scary post and the posts of other participants.

Postcard Friendship Friday

Marie the French Factrice hosts Postcard Friendship Friday, one of my favorite memes.

See below 2 vintage Halloween postcards:

They are expensive real vintage cards from OldPostcards.com

I think they are beautiful!

This Way Thursday - WAY

Tink hosts this new meme of signs, pathways, or on the road.
My photo for this week is one we passed in Hawaii several years ago. We had rented a car in Maui and decided to drive the back roads. We cam upon this huge, fenced off area AND this sign.
Needless to say we got out of there quickly! Ha!

My World Tuesday

My World included this photo session for the wedding of the girl across the street this weekend. Her dress was lovely and that color of the bridesmaid dresses is called "amethyst."

None of the men were there. I'm sure this was just the first of several sessions for the day. When they were all ready to leave a big white bus pulled up and everyone boarded and off they went!

Good Luck to the bride and groom!

Weekend Reflections

I took this shot at the Planting Fields at Coe Hall in Long Island, N.Y. If you look closely you can see me reflected in the mirror on the right as you look at the photo. You can also see the rest of the room and that gorgeous chandelier reflected in the mirror.

What I love is the light from the windows that reflects on the female Buddha, Kwan Yin, the divine feminine. I've posted another view of Kwan Yin before but this one is different from a different angle.

James of Newtown Area Photo hosts this new meme which I like very much.  Go visit him and the other participants in this meme. They'd love to have you I'm sure! :)
