The Little Mermaid
Edvard Eriksen
H.C. Andersen wrote the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid". Fini Henriques composed the music to the ballet of the same title, and art lover and brewer Carl Jacobsen (Carlsberg) asked Eriksen ("E.E.") to create a little mermaid. Naturally E.E.'s lovely wife was model as she was for all his sculptures. The Little Mermaid was mounted at Langelinie, Copenhagen 23 August 1913, a present from Mr. Jacobsen to the people of Copenhagen. The Little Mermaid has since been photographed, kissed, hugged and admired by millions of people from all over the world and has become a symbol of Denmark.

When my nephew, Jerome, goes on a trip he usually sends us, his aunt and uncle, a postcard. I've had this one on my refrigerator since he went to Denmark in 2000. Nine years!
The rules for the meme are:
1. Have a blast with this mail theme! Examples include: any type of postcard, a photo of a mailbox, mailman, a stamp image, postcard altered art, or simply a photo of something that you find 'Postcard Perfect' etc etc etc!
2. Link in with Mr.Linky at the bottom of Marie's post.
3. Visit as many of the other participants as possible and leave comments! That’s what a blog party is all about!
4. Link back to the party from your post so that your readers can come and see what everyone else is talking about today! Please grab the badge (above) if you'd like to add a bit of PFF colour to your post:)

That's a great statue.
The postcard is beautiful, but mostly I'm so touched and pleased to hear about nephews who regularly write to their aunts and uncles. Jerome, you're the best!
I love The Little Mermaid! Thanks for the great post!
I've always loved this statue- I one day hope to see it in person!
I have actually seen this live once and I think it does much better on image than in irl.
lovely card. Nine Years... Every year of so I need to de-clutter my refrigerator. What a lovely postcard and so sweet that your nephew thinks to mail to you when he is traveling. It's a KEEPER!

How beautifully graceful. I've always loved that sculpture.
Happy PFF!
A beautiful card of a beautiful statue! I have heard that the statue is going to be exhibited in China for a large part of 2010 and will be replaced by a piece by a Chinese artist.
I send postcards to my nephews more than they send them to me! But I suppose I travel more, too. Cute card. Happy PFF!
