You're looking at the Throggs Neck Bridge and the Manhattan skyline from Sands Point, Long Island.
To be honest I probably shouldn't try to take this sort of a picture with my little point-and-shoot digital camera. The subject matter is really too far away...
I tweaked the color and contrast and sharpened the shots a little.

Beautiful shots Mary. I love the brilliant blue of the water and the skyline is lovely.
Don't beat yourself up Teach, these are beautiful shots. And I do this most of the time with my little point and shoot, targeting SF skyline from Berkeley across the bay and yours are way better than my shots.
Have a great week.

I think your point and shoot created a lovely effect! It works for me!
That famous Manhattan skyline seems lonely without the Twin Towers...
That was my thought, too. The absent towers make their own statement.
They're great shots, Mary. And there is no other skyline like New York -- even with the towers missing. Strange, but that tug on my heart happens every time I see a picture of the NY skyline. And as I read the others comments I realized that I'm not alone. Have a great week. All I have is a point and shoot, but I won't let it stop me from taking pictures and I know you won't either!

I would be tempted to take a shot with a point and shoot, if that was all I had at the moment, too!
Great job with the photos. You've shown us some wonderful scenes.
